Window Alarm

Windows are the weakest point in the defense of your home from intruders. It doesn' t matter how strong your locks are if all a thief has to do to gain entry is break a window. Fortunately, one doesn' t have to seal off their windows and live in a bunker to enjoy a reasonable guarantee of security. Window alarms provide a means of protecting your home from thieves determined to gain access.

Window alarms generally work by either sensing vibration in the window (which, if it is sensitive enough, should trigger the alarm upon both breaking and opening) or by detecting when something breaks a circuit made by conductive filaments in or on the window itself. The vibration type can be purchased in standalone units that stick onto the window and can be a good way to secure a window in an existing home without requiring any renovation or installation of an entire alarm system.

Of course, even  the highest quality window alarms available will do nothing to protect your home if they are not on - many homeowners have alarms but fail to use them, leaving themselves open to burglary or home invasion. Make sure your alarm system is activated and your windows closed when you leave your home.
