Mace
Defensive sprays are popular among those who wish to have an added measure of security but do not wish to carry a lethal weapon. The word " mace' is used as a general term to describe defensive sprays such as pepper spray. It also applies to defensive sprays made by the brand Mace Security international.
If you' re considering carrying a defensive spray, you should keep these things in mind:
• Mace (or pepper spray) is a weapon and should be treated with care. Receive training in its safe use and storage and keep it away from children. It is a crime to attack someone with mace or pepper spray.
•Defensive sprays can incapacitate by extreme discomfort and temporary blindness but they do not paralyze or otherwise physically prevent someone from continuing to attack you - your attacker may be blinded and in pain but he can still harm you. Likewise, anyone with a weapon will be able to use it one you before the spray even takes effect.
•Windy conditions can cause the spray to be ineffective or even blow it back towards you. You should become familiar with the way your spray functions; test it regularly and practice using it.
