If a break in does occur, security cameras can increase the likelihood of the burglar being identified and later caught - hidden security cameras can also provide you with information about what is going on in your home, which can be useful if you have people working in your home such as a babysitter or a construction crew.

However, if you opt for hidden cameras, you may lose the deterrent that visible cameras provide - criminals want to get in as easily as possible and if they know there are cameras they may just pick another target. On the other hand, if a criminal is determined to get in, a hidden security camera is more likely to catch him in the act - he won' t know where it is in order to avoid it or disable it.

Hidden security cameras also work great as part of an intercom system - installed outside your front door or gate, you can see and hear who is on the other side of the door without even being in the same room. This allows you to interact with anyone coming to your door without opening it, or it can help you decide whether you' d like to acknowledge that you are home.
