Hidden Cameras
Having your security cameras in plain sight can help deter criminals from even trying to approach your home but it can make them a target for vandalism and it won' t help you know whether the babysitter has been stealing your silverware. Hidden cameras can provide you with an added measure of security around your home.
There are a few ways to disguise your hidden cameras. The first is by making them small enough to hide somewhere innocuous. A pinhole camera is not much larger than a watch battery and can be hidden behind a wall, inside lamps, bookcases, paintings, furniture or anywhere you can think of that still gives it a good view of the area you want to keep an eye on. Generally pinhole cameras don' t have the picture quality of a standard camera, and thus their viewing range is reduced. Some are only still cameras.
You can disguise a conventional camera to a limited extent. This will generally be a do-it-yourself project as the particulars of your home and the situation may vary. If you' re okay with advertising the existence of your surveillance but merely want to keep the specific details hidden, then you can purchase decoy cameras - an intruder may see the obvious decoy and overlook the smaller, hidden camera nearby.
