Personal Defense, Weapons, and Guns

Welcome to ExpressDefense.com, where you can find information about
personal defense and wireless
home security system.
You may enjoy jogging in the park in the morning, or you may have to
walk some distance as part of your daily commute. You may end up in
areas or situations where you don' t feel that you are safe, and
are thus considering carrying a weapon or training in martial arts or
other types of self defense.
Remember that there is a difference, however, in feeling safe
and being safe. If you have decided that you have need of a
personal defense weapon you have probably come to the conclusion that
you are not safe. However simply being armed doesn' t make one
safe - in fact in many ways it can be more dangerous. Without
proper training, carrying a weapon will just give a potential attacker
one more thing to hurt you with.
In many reported cases, would-be victims carrying weapons were not required
to use them on their attackers - criminals prey on the weak and
unsuspecting; and an armed, alert " victim' is hardly an
easy mark. When faced with the prospect of death, injury or pain most
criminals will choose to take their business elsewhere.
However, it is important to remember that this is not always the case.
Often criminals are under the influence of alcohol or drugs -
they may also act out of desperation, or they may simply not care. The
reason is not important. You may be required to use whatever weapon
you buy. If you are not at least willing to accept the idea of using
your weapon on another human being, it will do nothing to protect you.
A potential assailant can spot someone who is not willing to defend
themselves - you should never carry a weapon that you
are not both trained in using and willing to use. You may be
uncomfortable with the idea of injuring or even killing someone in self-defense.
This is perfectly fine -after all, it is what separates you from
those who would attempt to harm you.
Fortunately, there are many ways to protect yourself that do not require
weapons of any sort. A fight is always a last resort - defusing
or escaping the situation is always best if it is possible. The best
defense is avoidance - and to avoid being the victim of a crime
you must be aware. Awareness is not paranoia; it is not expecting every
single person you meet to try and take your wallet or a rapist to jump
out from every corner. It is simply recognizing situations and individuals
around you in a simple application of observation and common sense.
Awareness will help you identify situations which are dangerous. Once
you recognize you are in a potentially dangerous situation, if possible
you should always try and escape, or defuse the situation. Violence
is always a last resort, to protect your life only. Your purse or wallet
isn' t worth your life. However, if it comes to a situation where it
is necessary to defend yourself, what then? There are many self-defense
" training' courses that promise you will instantly and without
effort be able to repulse any attacker, likewise vendors that promise
weapons which will disable any assailant with minimal effort. Check

It is wise to keep in mind that things don' t come without effort
- and when something as important as your life is at stake, you
will need to train and develop habits that can keep you safe. In a violent
situation you will be under a lot of stress. You won' t have time
to think, you will have to act on instinct and out of habit.
However, one hopes that this will never become necessary. Many crimes
take place because the victim was unaware of any threat, and if you
can recognize the danger, you can avoid it. After all, the best form
of personal defense is the one that never needs to be used.
